The system has been designed around the feedback from aged care participants at all levels over a period of five years. Questions such as “what would save time, “what would make it easier”, “how to prove something was done or said”, “how can we prove we told them that” etc were used as base questions to foster discussions around the features and function of the system deemed to be required and relevant. In essence, the system has been designed by the industry. The industry feedback based ‘skin’ has been overlayed on top of an existing, proven, highly reliable ‘any medium to any medium’ communication switching system. This provides a tailored solution based upon a highly reliable proven platform.

Whilst system output can be directed to any number of endpoints (phones, tablets, watches, kiosks, panels, projectors etc) the most cost effective method is to inject the digital signal into the facility’s existing MATV system using the existing TVs (regardless of type – providing they are HD Digital). This way, output can be generated throughout a facility without having to install distribution cables and associated equipment.

Facilities can now provide relevant information in an easy to read format whereby text, images, animated images and video can all be used to educate, inform, entertain and warn residents, staff, visitors and contractors in a non-obtrusive calm manner. General information slides, food menu slides, compliance related slides (evacuation points or complaints handling procedures as an example), activities slides, news/weather (with UV warnings) slides, quiz slides and warning and alert slides can all be invoked as required and set to a roster if required. Facilities also have the choice of streaming various radio stations though the system if they wish. Via the use of UIG’s unique traffic light safety indicator, all people within the facility can quickly see and determine whether ‘everything is OK’, or, ‘there is something I should take notice of’, or, ‘there is something I definitely need to know about’. This way, people can be informed of issues or alerts in a calm manner without inducing alarm or panic.
