Movie Players
An optional module within the system that can be controlled by the staff via the web interface to play movies from a list of available movies and output the movie to a particular TV Channel which can then be viewed throughout the facility, or, a given area within the facility.
UIG have sourced a collection of approximately 500 royalty-free/copyright-expired movies. This means, these title are free and legal to use in an aged- care setting. The majority of these titles are black and white having been produced between the 1930s through 1970s. UIG’s movie collection has been ‘enhanced’ to improve audio and video quality.
As with the UIG Web Streamers, the staff onsite will have full control as to which Movie Player plays which movie. The system also offers the option of ‘auto-play’ whereby movies will simply play one after the other. As an example, if a client has two movie players, one connected to channel 590 and another connected to channel 591, the staff have full control over which movie is played on which player. Any TV tuned to TV Channel 591 will see the movie selected by the staff to play on TV Channel 591. Individual Movie Players can be set to auto-play independent of other Movie Players. All onsite Movie Players are controlled from the web interface.
Most sites have one Movie Player outputting royalty-free/copyright-expired movies for residents to watch. However, as an example, if a site also wanted to have staff training videos available in the lunch-room only, then a second Movie Player can be invoked whereby its output is only available in the staff room – the residents would never see or have any access to the staff training videos in this example.
Royalty-free/copyright-expired movies cover the following categories:
• comedy
• drama
• musicals
• adventure
• action
The UIG film collection is updated as more titles become royalty-free/copyright-expired each year.
